Nasaan (“the app,” “we,” “us”) helps you remember where you put your things. We built Nasaan to be private by default. This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
The short version
- Your items, locations, notes, and photos are stored on your device and, if you’re signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We do not have access to them.
- Nasaan has no account and no login. We do not ask for your name, email, or contacts.
- When you use Smart Filipino voice (an optional, paid feature), a short audio recording is sent securely to our processing server and then to our AI provider (OpenAI) to convert your speech to text. Audio is used only to fulfill that request and is not used to build a profile of you.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or tracking.
What data Nasaan handles
Item data you create — item names, rooms, locations, notes, quantity, photos, reminders, and the original phrase you spoke or typed:
- Stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData.
- If iCloud is enabled on your device, this data syncs through your private iCloud account (Apple’s CloudKit). It is not visible to us.
- You can export or delete it at any time in the app.
Microphone & speech
- On-device voice uses Apple’s Speech framework; audio is processed by Apple / your device.
- Smart Filipino voice records a short clip and sends it over an encrypted connection to our server proxy, which forwards it to OpenAI for transcription and understanding. We send only the audio/text needed for that request, along with an anonymous per-device identifier used solely to prevent abuse and apply usage limits. We do not attach your name or Apple Account. Neither we nor OpenAI use this audio to train models where such use is opt-out and we have opted out.
Photos
- Photos you attach are stored with your items (device + your iCloud). They are not uploaded to us.
Diagnostics
- We may collect anonymous, aggregated crash and performance data to keep the app stable. This does not identify you.
What we do NOT collect
- No account, email, phone number, or password.
- No contacts, precise location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with data brokers.
Third parties
- Apple (iCloud/CloudKit, Speech, StoreKit) — governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
- OpenAI — processes Smart Filipino voice audio/text to return a transcription and structured result. See OpenAI’s privacy policy.
Subscriptions
Nasaan Plus is an auto-renewable subscription processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Your choices
- Turn Smart Filipino voice off to keep all voice on-device.
- Deny microphone/speech permission and use text instead.
- Export a backup (JSON or CSV) or delete any item, which removes its data from your device (and iCloud if enabled).
Children
Nasaan is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date if this policy changes.
